Cliff Warwell was reserve guard at Syracuse for one season. He was known as having a smiling personality, and good demeanor.
Warwell was a highly touted high school basketball player from Candor High School. He dominated the weaker teams in his league, averaging 30.9 points per game and 21.3 rebounds.
Warwell would have a tough time adjusting to college basketball at Syracuse. His explosive offensive style in high school did not fit well on a team loaded with offensive talent, and he struggled to play defense. He would leave Syracuse after his freshman year and enroll at Northeastern Louisiana State. However, Warwell would drop out of that school before playing. In the 1979-1980 season, he enrolled at Ithaca College and joined the varsity basketball team.
