Art Barr was a reserve guard for Syracuse for one season. Barr was a high school basketball teammate of future NBA head coach George Karl.
Barr was the sixth man on the Syracuse Tangerine freshman basketball team in 1969-1970. Under rookie head coach Jim Boeheim, the Tangerines would go 16-2.
Barr would play the first five games for the varsity his sophomore season. He would leave the team mid season to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He would serve in the Marines for six years, rising to the rank of sergeant. He would work for Giant Eagle grocery for over 30 years.
